The Life of a Digital Nomad: How Tech Enables Travel

Millions of people have wanderlust in their blood. They want to travel, see the world, and enjoy new experiences on a regular basis. Historically, those types of people haven’t been able to live their dreams because they’re saddled with the responsibilities of work. But in today’s world, it’s possible to become a digital nomad – an active worker who travels from place to place, traveling, relaxing, and seeing the world while still making a decent income. What exactly is a digital nomad, and what types of technologies are necessary to live this kind of lifestyle?

What Is a Digital Nomad, Anyway?

A digital nomad is a person who travels to different areas, typically on an international scale, while working remotely. There are many possible career paths that can make this feasible, especially in today’s world of abundant digital work, but some of the most common types of digital nomads are writers, photographers, designers, content creators, online store operators, and influencers.

Key Technologies for Digital Nomads

To be successful, digital nomads need access to a wide range of technologies, including services that enable productivity and communication. Many of these tools have been available for decades, but some are more recent developments. For starters, you’ll probably need an email account and access to a project management platform to enable collaboration and communication with other people. You’ll probably also need a cloud storage platform to manage your most important files and share them with others. And it goes without saying that you’ll need a steady, reliable internet connection to keep these technologies active. If you’re starting your own business as a digital nomad, you’ll also need a virtual mailbox, which gives you digital access to your traditional mail.  According to Lucas Seyhun of The Farm SoHo, “The US is experiencing a trend of work from home and remote workers. A lot of legal and government issued documents such as tax letters are still using snail mail as an option for communication. A virtual mailbox allows today’s worker to read and respond to snail mail communications in a timely manner from anywhere in the world, without having to physically forward the documents.”

The Benefits of a Digital Nomad Lifestyle

Is a digital nomad lifestyle right for you? There are several enticing benefits, like:
  • The ultimate freedom. Some people are drawn to being digital nomads because it provides you with an unparalleled sense of freedom. You’re not going to be tied down to any location or home; you can stay in new places however long you want and move on whenever you’re ready.
  • Low cost of living. The United States is a relatively expensive country to live in when you compare it to its international contemporaries. If you’re willing to travel to and live in countries with a lower cost of living, you can save a lot of money and help your salary go further.
  • New opportunities. Traveling to new areas introduces you to countless new opportunities. If you’re open to new experiences, you might find new clients, new partners, and new business opportunities throughout your journeys.
  • Recreation and personal enjoyment. Of course, part of being a digital nomad is also making the most of your travel. As long as you have enough free time, you can relax and enjoy yourself with a wide range of activities all over the world.

Digital Nomad Challenges to Overcome

However, there are also some challenges you’ll need to overcome:
  • Work-life balance. Everyone deserves a healthy work-life balance. But as a digital nomad, this is hard to achieve. Some types of digital businesses require long hours and dedicated focus, minimizing the time you have for more exciting personal activities.
  • Social and emotional support. Moving away from home means being more distant from your friends and family members in many cases. While you can still communicate with them remotely, there are times when you may struggle with social and emotional support.
  • Logistical, legal, and tax issues. Being a digital nomad can sometimes be complicated. If you’re still making money with a US-based business even when living abroad, you’ll need to consult with tax and legal experts to make sure you’re doing everything right.
  • Consistency and routine. Digital nomads typically experience ups and downs as part of their business and career development. This lifestyle makes it hard to find consistency and stability.
  • Safety and resource access. If you move to an area with a lower cost of living, you might be introduced to more dangerous areas and more restricted resources. Be smart and tread carefully.
Being a digital nomad isn’t the right move for everyone, even if you have a career that can currently support it. But if you love the idea of traveling, and you’re undeterred by the biggest challenges of this lifestyle, you should consider moving forward with this flexible and potentially profitable approach.

Whether you’re a professional chef or a business owner, odds are you are always on the lookout for the next big thing to streamline your baking. Time is money, and saving effort on previously time-consuming tasks can free you up to create more or help you keep on top of orders. As a bonus, some innovations allow you to improve your customer’s experience. Today, we’re going to take a look at whipped cream chargers: what they are, what they do, and how they’ll take your business to the next level.

What Are Cream Chargers?

Cream chargers, also known as whip-it tanks, whippits, and whipped cream chargers, are canisters containing compressed nitrous oxide gas. Used in combination with a whipped cream dispenser and a pressure regulator, they can be used to create picture-perfect whipped cream, in addition to a variety of other specialty desserts, additions, garnishes, and drinks. Whipped cream chargers vary in size, but for business use, you are likely to benefit from the 640G tank offered by Exotic Whip. Whoever your supplier is, be sure to review their safety and disposal instructions. While whip-it tanks are generally safe and easy to use, you are handling canisters of compressed air. Certain precautions will be required.

How Do Whippits Work?

Cream chargers infuse your creations with nitrous oxide. With heavy cream, sugar, and flavoring of your choice, this leads to Instagram-worthy whipped cream every time. When used for oils, herbs, and spices, you get a flavorful infusion for cooking or finishing. Pop in some diced or sliced fruit, and you’ll have a refreshing pop of flavor for garnish or a light snack. You can froth cocktails, brew nitro coffee, and more!

Tips For Using Cream Chargers

  • Chill Your Ingredients: With the exception of Espumas, always ensure your ingredients are cold— straight out of the fridge if possible. This helps things like creams and mousses to set properly and maintain shape.
  • Use the Right Size Charger: Your chargers and dispenser need to be compatible. Find where you want to purchase your charger first, then find a dispenser and pressure regulator that work with them.
  • Shake the Dispenser: Once you’ve added the charger, give everything a good shake. This helps the gas dissolve evenly throughout the cream.
  • Don’t Overfill: An overfilled dispenser can lead to a whipped cream that’s too big—and a big mess if the pressure builds up too much.

How Whipped Cream Chargers Elevate Your Business

  • Consistency and Convenience: using a charger ensures a consistent texture and density every time. This is great for customer loyalty, serving your clients the same deliciously satisfying experience. It also helps with marketing— what you serve really will match the picture. Whipped cream chargers are incredibly convenient, as it only takes seconds to achieve these results.
  • Customization: you can customize your whipped cream easily with a charger. Just add your flavoring of choice, like cocoa powder or vanilla extract, before sealing the dispenser and adding the charger. You can also create infused oils, butter, and edible foams.
  • Cost-Effective: The bottom line for any business always comes down to expenses versus profits. With cream chargers, you’re saving time and money. Premade whipped cream gets expensive, especially if you have high demand. And traditional nitro coffee infusers were complicated arrays of tubes and tanks. Chargers are simple, easy to use, and don’t take up a lot of space.
  • Versatility: did we mention chargers are great for more than whipped cream? With their wide variety of uses, you can expand your menu while saving time and money in creating items like nitro coffee, infused oils, and espumas.

Who Benefits the Most From Purchasing Cream Chargers?

Every kitchen should have a whippit. Whether you bake as a hobby or run an industrial-sized kitchen, you can benefit from the advantages of adding a cream charger to your arsenal of kitchen supplies. Whipped cream chargers are a convenient, versatile tool that can take your kitchen creations to the next level, no matter your level of skill. They can take a little practice to get used to, but trial and error are all part of the process when creating delicious things.

Ever Higher

Whether you run a bakery, restaurant, or cafe, whipped cream chargers are a versatile tool that can help you stand out from your competitors and create dazzling drinks and desserts. So, why not give them a try and see the difference they can make for yourself? Your customers— and your staff —will thank you for it!

Types of Scoliosis and How to Prevent Them from Worsening

Scoliosis, an unnatural curvature of the spine, is typically diagnosed in early childhood or teenage years. This condition can cause poor posture, back pain, and other ailments. Once diagnosed, it’s recommended to seek professional corrective care. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with an abnormal curvature of the spine, a consultation with Specific Care Chiropractic for scoliosis can end the pain it can cause. With proper treatment, this condition can be prevented from worsening. In this article, we’ll highlight the signs and symptoms of this condition, its three types, and its treatment.

Signs and Symptoms of Scoliosis

Scoliosis can affect people of all ages, although it’s more common to begin to develop in children aged 10 to 15. In mild forms, those with a curvature of the spine can engage in all normal physical activities, including sports and exercise. Common symptoms of scoliosis can include:
  • Back pain
  • Uneven shoulders
  • A visibly curved spine
  • A natural tendency to lean to one side when standing
  • Protruding ribs on one side of the body
  • One hip or shoulder sticking out unnaturally

Types of Scoliosis

Scoliosis is categorized into 4 different types. They’re broken down by severity and cause.
  • Idiopathic scoliosis – By far, the most common type of scoliosis is referred to as idiopathic. This type defies cause, although some experts believe it could have been due to poor posture, lack of exercise, or poor diet.
  • Congenital scoliosis – Congenital scoliosis occurs when the child is still in the womb and results from a development issue. The bones of the spine form incorrectly, or sections of the spinal column grow at different rates. Diagnosis typically occurs in early childhood.
  • Neuromuscular scoliosis – Neuromuscular scoliosis is a symptom of bigger issues. It can be caused by conditions such as spinal bifida, cerebral palsy, and muscular dystrophy.
  • Degenerative scoliosis – When older adults are diagnosed with scoliosis, it’s typically due to decades of wear and tear on the spine and can be caused by a sedentary lifestyle or poor nutrition.

How to Prevent Scoliosis from Worsening

Although extreme cases of scoliosis may require wearing a back brace or invasive corrective surgery known as spinal fusion, most with the condition can greatly benefit from chiropractic care. After reviewing your x-rays or imaging scans, a licensed chiropractor specializing in scoliosis can develop a treatment plan to help prevent the condition from worsening.

Physical Therapy

Most with idiopathic scoliosis cannot only find relief from back pain but also can help to prevent their condition from worsening by engaging in physical therapy treatments. Common physical therapy treatments can include stretching and strength-building exercises. Under the care of a physical therapist, increasing flexibility and strength can assist with an improved range of motion and an overall better quality of life. A physical therapy plan can also include other methods for preventing the worsening of scoliosis with massage, ultrasound treatments, and electrical muscle stimulation (E-STIM) therapy.

Chiropractic Adjustments

In conjunction with physical therapy, traditional chiropractic adjustments can also help to alleviate pain and prevent the worsening of scoliosis. These adjustments can help realign the spinal cord, reducing irritation and stiffness in the back. A chiropractor will perform scoliosis-specific manipulations to gently and gradually correct the spine’s unnatural curve. Over time, these subtle adjustments can prevent the condition from worsening, with the endgame being to reduce the spine’s curvature. One scoliosis-specific technique chiropractors use known as the Sacro-Occipital Technique or SOT. This helps better to align the head, pelvis, and spine. Using specially designed wedges placed under the patient’s hips, the chiropractor applies gentle pressure on different body parts to help correct misalignments. Depending on your condition, pain level, and degree of curvature, your chiropractor will use different techniques and strategies to help to slow down or stop your spine from moving further out of alignment.

Types of Scoliosis and Treatments To Prevent It From Worsening: Final Thoughts

Scoliosis has 4 different types, although most with this condition suffer from what’s known as idiopathic scoliosis, meaning its cause is unknown. Fortunately, this most common form of scoliosis is treatable and doesn’t require invasive surgery. Chiropractors have many different techniques and therapies that can not only lessen or eliminate the pain caused by scoliosis but can also help prevent the condition from worsening. They may recommend strength training, stretching, massage, and chiropractic adjustments as part of your treatment plan.

How Long Should You Study for CISSP and Why Is It Important?

Professionals in the exciting cybersecurity world that want to up their game usually pursue the CISSP. This certification can open many doors and help advance your IT career. Known globally as the gold standard of cybersecurity, those with CISSP status are well respected and highly sought out by businesses and job recruiters. The CISSP exam has a reputation for being difficult and challenging. Its registration fee is costly, so walking in unprepared doesn’t make sense financially. In addition to studying for the exam, savvy candidates opt for CISSP training to ensure they’re fully prepared.

What Does the CISSP Exam Cover?

Suppose you’re considering registering to take the CISSP exam. In that case, you’ve already been employed in the IT industry for at least 5 years with experience in at least two of the 8 domains of the CISSP Common Body of Knowledge. Anyone striving for CISSP certification already understands cybersecurity, but the exam is far-reaching and vast. The CISSP exam consists of 125 to 175 multiple-choice questions and others that will be presented in various ways. Some are drag-and-drop style, while others require the test taker to click on specific points on flowcharts and identify areas with potential weaknesses. The time allotted for the exam is limited to 4 hours. The exam requires CISSP candidates to prove their knowledge in the following eight domains:
  • Asset security – 10%
  • Security operations – 13%
  • Security and risk management – 15%
  • Software development security – 11%
  • Security assessment and testing – 12%
  • Identity and access management – 13%
  • Communication and network security – 13%
  • Security architecture and engineering – 13%

How Does the CISSP Exam Differ from Others?

The CISSP exam is a bit tricky because it’s presented in CAT (Computerized Adaptive Testing) format. This means that each candidate will not have the same questions as expected from a conventional, linear exam. A CAT exam employs an adaptive algorithm that evaluates the candidate’s strengths and weaknesses and presents questions and problem-solving tasks based on their previous answer. The more answers a candidate gets correct, the more difficult future questions will be. The adaptive algorithm will progressively test the candidate’s weaknesses, which makes it much more difficult. However, a benefit of this type of exam is that if you haven’t completed all the questions when the allotted 3 hours have expired, the algorithm will base your test results on the last 75 questions answered. Unfortunately, you won’t pass the exam if you haven’t completed at least 75 questions.

How Long Should You Study for the CISSP Exam?

This question is incredibly common but also very difficult to answer accurately. Each candidate’s skill level and test-taking abilities differ, so there isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer. Many different variables come into play, such as test anxiety, overall knowledge and experience in the 8 domains, and how well one retains and understands new information. On average, most successful candidates for the CISSP exam begin preparing anywhere from 3 to 6 months before their scheduled exam date. Since you know you’ll be evaluated on your knowledge of the 8 domains of the CISSP Common Body of Knowledge, focus your studies on the areas you know the least about. Purchasing books relating to these areas can be beneficial, as can paying for CISSP online training courses. After sufficient study, taking one of the many online CISSP practice tests can be beneficial to see how well you perform. This can help you identify which areas you’re weak in and need improvement. After brushing up on your weak spots, try taking the exam again. Asking for advice from others who have taken the exam can provide insight into what to expect. You can gain valuable information from your peers by asking about their experiences and how they felt they could have been better prepared for the test.

Start Your CISSP Studies Well in Advance of the Exam

Most successful CISSP candidates prepare for the exam anywhere from 3 to 6 months before their scheduled exam date. Determining which areas of the 8 domains are your weak spots is key to passing this difficult exam. Since it’s presented in CAT format, it will present more questions related to the areas where you’re weakest. Most beneficial for CISSP preparation is to take online CISSP masterclasses and other study-related materials. The exam fee isn’t cheap, and if you don’t pass on the first try, you’ll need to wait 30 days before rescheduling the exam.

How to Recover From a Spine Injury After Fall Accidents?

Sometimes slip and fall accidents are easily recovered from, and our egos are hurt more than our physical bodies. Unfortunately, more severe falls can lead to more severe injuries, such as damage to the spinal cord. They’ll require more attention than just a bit of rest and should be attended to immediately. Treatment after a spine injury is critical and shouldn’t be ignored. The spine is a delicate and complex part of the body and requires the care of a professional when injured due to a particularly severe fall. In this article, we’ll cover all you need to know about how to recover from a spine injury.

Types of Spine Injuries

A serious slip and fall can cause a host of painful injuries. Torn muscles and bruises are common and are usually easily remedied. However, a nasty fall can cause damage to the spine, resulting in extreme pain along with other unpleasant conditions. Some common types of spine injuries as a result of a fall include:
  • Spinal cord fractures
  • Herniated (slipped) disks
  • Coccyx (tailbone) damage
  • Strained back muscles
Signs and symptoms of spine injuries can include:
  • Back or neck pain
  • Back muscle stiffness
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Numbness in the buttocks and down the legs
  • A tingling sensation in the back and extremities
  • Difficulties walking, standing, and other mobility issues

How to Recover From a Spine Injury

Chiropractic care can help to relieve pain, regain mobility and flexibility, and improve body strength and balance, which can help to reduce the chances of another falling accident. After a full evaluation by a licensed chiropractor, they can recommend a regime that will best benefit your specific injury.

Chiropractic Adjustments

Gentle manipulation of the neck and spine can help to relieve pressure from joints and nerves and can help to reduce or eliminate the pain associated with a spine or back injury. Over time, this can help to restore mobility and increase flexibility. Regular chiropractic adjustments are particularly helpful for patients suffering from herniated disks. Spinal adjustments can improve blood flow to the back and spine, aiding healing. A spinal misalignment from a fall can be manipulated back into proper alignment using several different chiropractic techniques. Other injuries sustained from a fall, such as torn back muscles, can benefit from these adjustments by allowing the muscles to relax.

Physical Therapy

Although physical therapy won’t directly remedy a spinal cord fracture or herniated disk, it will help increase mobility and muscle strength. Increased flexibility and muscle strength can help to alleviate the pain associated with a spine injury and can also help to avoid another slip and fall accident. A chiropractor can guide you through a series of different strengthening exercises and stretching routines to improve the condition of your back. These can be performed either in the office or at home.

Pain Management

In addition to spinal manipulations, flexibility, and strength training exercises, a chiropractor can also work with your physician to safely manage the pain associated with your spine injury.

Ultrasound Therapy

The use of ultrasound therapy can greatly reduce the pain from a spine injury. This non-invasive treatment involves the use of sound waves to increase blood flow to the affected area and can assist with relaxing the muscles. Although not directly treating the spinal injury, ultrasound therapy will help to heal the soft tissues that were also damaged.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy has been used for eons to promote relaxation and stimulate healing. Spine injuries can cause stiff or sore muscles, and gentle muscle and soft tissue massage can increase blood flow and help the muscles to relax. Massage therapy can also help create space between the vertebrae, which can relieve pressure on the nerves.

Electrical Stimulation

Electrical stimulation, sometimes referred to as E-STIM or ES, has been proven to help to relieve the pain from back or spine injuries. Using electrical pulses, your muscles will involuntarily tense and tighten, providing a massage-like feeling. ES helps to reduce back muscle spasms and can help to reduce inflammation, both of which are common in spine injuries.

Recovery From a Spine Injury After a Fall Is Possible

The pain from a spine injury after a fall can be excruciating. However, recovery from the injury and pain management during the healing process can be expedited with the assistance of chiropractic care. Spinal adjustments, massage, and electrical stimulation therapy are a few of the treatments a chiropractor can provide to ensure that you’re doing everything you can to heal quickly and safely.
